The textiles have no dye, optical brightener or finishing coating, only a simple wash, so natural dyes can bond evenly.

How do I prepare undyed fabric for dyeing?

Scour with soda ash, then mordant with tannin and alum for cotton and linen, or alum and cream of tartar for wool.
