Calcium Hydroxide

Calcium Hydroxide is also known as calx, hydrated lime, or slaked lime. It serves as a common base used when making indigo vats. It will reduce oxygen in an indigo or woad vat and make it more alkaline.

Calx is used in indigo fermentation vats and serves to raise the ph level helping to dissolve the indigo and aid in the reduction of indigo.
