What is Indigo?
Indigo (Indigofera tinctoria) is a traditional blue dye obtained from the leaves of indigo plants. Unlike most natural dyes, indigo requires a reduction vat to bond with fibers—this is what allows the dye to attach and develop rich blue shades after oxidation.
Mordanting:Indigo does not require a mordant. It bonds through vat dyeing (reduction + oxidation) rather than forming a typical mordant-dye-fiber chemical bond.
