Oak Gall Powder (Green) is a tannin-rich natural material used in natural dyeing—especially to pre-treat cotton and linen before mordanting and dyeing. A tannin bath helps dyes and mordants bond more effectively, improving depth, clarity, and consistency of color.

Best for: cotton & linen (cellulose fibers), eco printing, botanical dyeing, and iron–tannin processes.

Botanical name: Quercus infectoria (Aleppo oak)

Origin: Turkey (Mesopotamia region)

Green vs White Oak Gall – Which one should I choose?
Green oak galls generally have a slightly higher tannin content than white oak galls. Both are naturally rich in tannins and work effectively for mordanting cotton, linen, and other cellulose fibers. For most natural dyeing applications, either option works well.

Quick use

Scour your fabric first.

Use 5–10% WOF in a tannin bath.

Proceed to mordanting and dyeing as needed.

Notes: Natural batches may vary slightly. Avoid inhaling fine powder; store sealed in a cool, dry place.
